Songs, stages, stories

Melody Jordan is a singer-songwriter and live performer with a lifelong foundation in music and performance. She grew up in a musical household, heavily influenced by her father — a gifted multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who plays pedal steel, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and acoustic and electric guitar. His roots in country music meant a steady soundtrack of artists like the Marshall Tucker Band, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Jimmy Buffett, shaping Melody’s early understanding of songwriting, storytelling, and musicianship. She first performed alongside her father at a wedding at age sixteen.

Throughout high school, Melody was deeply involved in choral programs, including women’s choir, varsity choir, and madrigals. Singing as an alto, she frequently held solo parts and developed strong vocal discipline and harmony skills. Her formal musical training began even earlier — she learned piano at age eight, played violin in her elementary school orchestra, and picked up guitar at eighteen, which marked the beginning of her songwriting journey.

Just shy of nineteen, Melody moved to Los Angeles, where she joined a band she connected with through Craigslist. For several years, she performed as the frontwoman of a heavy rock band with a sound often described as Paramore meets Evanescence. During that time, she played extensively across the Sunset Strip and throughout the San Fernando Valley and Venice Beach, gaining experience in high-energy live performance and original music production.

Her performance history extends beyond California and includes singing in Hawaii, Texas, and Nashville. At twenty-one, she won a trip to Las Vegas through a karaoke competition, and her band later won a battle of the bands, earning studio time to record a demo. Her band also recorded an EP with producers who had written and toured with Bret Michaels, further strengthening her studio and collaborative experience.

Today, Melody performs primarily as an acoustic solo act, offering engaging, intimate sets that balance professionalism with connection. Her performances feature stripped-down covers of familiar favorites — ranging from The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac to Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Taylor Swift, and Paramore — alongside heartfelt original songs.

With a background that spans classical training, rock stages, studio recording, and acoustic storytelling, Melody brings versatility, experience, and intentionality to every performance. Her focus is on delivering well-crafted music that connects naturally with audiences, whether in intimate listening rooms or live event settings.

In addition to her work as a musician, Melody also runs a media productions company, MJ Media Productions, specializing in photography and videography. Her background in visual storytelling naturally complements her music, informing how she approaches performance, branding, and presentation. This dual creative practice allows her to bring a thoughtful, cohesive perspective to both sound and visuals.
